Arlington Memorial Service
On October 21, 2005, at 1pm, Jeff Lucas was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetary. May he rest in peace.
The service was administered by Pastors Rich and Ben Bryson and was attended by Jeff's family, friends and honored guests, including Senator Gordon Smith and a representative from the White House.
It was our greatest honor to attend the service and grieve with Jeff's SEAL teammates (shown in picture to the right, grave side with Rhonda and Seth) who recently returned from deployment in Afghanistan. These men are heros and great men who we will never forget!
Prior to Jeff's service, teammate Lt. Michael McGreevy was also laid to rest. We will never forget the words of Mrs. McGreevy honoring her husband who lived by these words:
"SEEK JUSTICE. WALK HUMBLY.
Several other SEALs were killed in the battle on June 28, 2005 and were from Jeff's base in Little Creek: Chief Petty Officer Jacques J. Fontan, 36; Lt. Cmdr. Erik S. Kristensen, 33; Lt. Michael M. McGreevy, 30; Petty Officer 1st Class Jeffrey S. Taylor, 30; and Petty Officer 2nd Class Danny P. Dietz, 25.
We honor all of these men and the service they provide to our country.
The Jeff Lucas Memorial Fund is committed to the statement emblazened in the marble of the WWII Memorial in Washington DC (see photo to the right).
"They fought together as brothers-in-arms. They died together and now they sleep side by side. To them we have a solemn obligation."
We will live up to this obligation.
